Points for CMA Membership/Fellowship

A set of short CPDs has been developed for the GPs of the member-countries of CMA, covering a wide spectrum of clinical disciplines; the unitization in this array of courses would allow the students to gather the point-credits at their own pace, selecting what best suits their individual work and needs.

Another set of structured long courses are on offer, which include clinical rotation, formative evaluation, and online mentorship components; and are university-certified and accredited in India. 8 of these are already deployed online, and 2 more are in production.

The Short-course set is currently being added to and updated dynamically, such that these would also be able to add up/summate [in pre-suggested core and elective groupings], and aggregate to transition to a CMA Certificate.

Option 1
CPD candidates who would accumulate several hours of online study would be awarded CMA Certificates as follows:

50 Points [random] = AMCMA ( Associate Member of CMA)
100 Points [Random electives] =MCMA (Member of CMA)
200 Points [Random electives] = FCMA (Fellow of CMA )

Option 2
CPD candidates who would accumulate 70% hours of core online study and 30% from random electives would be awarded CMA Certificates as follows:

Core sub-set Headings, at present include: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Diabetes, Ob&Gyn, Surgery, Community Health, Cardiology, Human Genetics, &Hosp. Admn.

The Core and Elective components for such an FCMA award are suggested as hereunder:

FCMA [Family Medicare]
<= 70% Core

20 Points from Pediatrics subset
10 Points from Comm. Health subset
10 Points from Ob&Gyn subset
Points from Surgery subset
<= 30% Elective= 30 Points free choice
+CR in 100-bed empaneled hospital =4 weeks/24 days total, across 6 months

FCMA [Diabetic Healthcare]
<= 70% Core
60 Points from Diabetes subset
10 Points from Internal Medicine subset
<= 30% Elective= 30 Points free choice

FCMA [Healthcare Admin.]
<= 70% Core
50 Points from Hosp. Admn subset
10 Points from Comm. Health subset
10 Points from Internal Medicine subset
<= 30% Elective= 30 Points free choice
+CR in 100-bed empaneled hospital =4 weeks/24 days total across 6 months

FCMA [Community Healthcare]

<70% Core
50 Points from Comm. Health subset
10 Points from Internal Medicine subset
5 Points from Hosp. Admn subset
5 Points from Genetics subset
<= 30% Elective= 30 Points free choice
+CR in 30-50 bed suburban/district hospital=4 weeks/24 days total across 6 months

Option 3
Candidates who have already registered/qualified for the University-Certifiable Long courses are ALSO eligible for the CMA Memberships as follows:

6-month Certificate Courses = CGC, ==> AMCMA
CPCR ==> AMCMA
1-Year ‘Fellowship’ Courses =FFM ==> MCMA [Family Medicine]
= FDM ==> MCMA [Diabetes Mellitus]
= FPCP ==> MCMA [Pediatric Healthcare]
= FPCC ==> MCMA [Cardiac Healthcare]
= ADHM ==>MCMA [Health Administration]
2-Year ‘Diploma’ Course = DFM ==> FCMA [Family Medicine]

Courses in production are being similarly designed (with planned unitization), and will be added to this roll-out periodically: the summation matrix would be updated accordingly.

While CMEL would undertake the entire Course Administration for all registered candidates of Short CPDs, [including tracking of all submersibles, attendances, & Points earned], CMA would be the authority to recognize this documentation of student activity and progress, and to approve the award of the Associate/Member/Fellow titles.

Clinical Rotation, imperative to the summation of Points towards a CMA Title, shall be the responsibility & prerogative of the National Medical Association of the parent country of the Candidate: the respective NMA would organize the hospital/clinic tie-ups or approve/endorse the CR-facility that the candidates may organize for themselves.
